Your objective is to create an interesting visual (think: infographic) so that an outside observer could quickly learn at least three new things by looking at it.

If it is easier, you can do this assignment as an attachment.
Assignment 2 (Presentation and written explanation worth 20 points)—A. Select an interesting, debatable topic from this module that you would like to learn more about. Do some background research, and then find at least two journal articles that provide more insight into that topic. You may also reference information from national organizations that focus on child development (American Academy of Pediatrics, UNICEF, etc.). Here are some topics that have been debated in recent times, although you may choose your own:
breastfeeding
vaccinations
circumcision
gender-neutral parenting
co-sleeping
A. Pick out some interesting facts from your research. Think about some favorite insights, graphs, or charts. Your objective is to create an interesting visual (think: infographic) so that an outside observer could quickly learn at least three new things by looking at it. It must include at least two images (pictures, charts, and graphs all count as images) and some text. You can present both sides of the “debate” on your infographic (for example, the pros and cons of circumcision), or you can focus on one side. Include your references in APA format either at the bottom of the visual or on a separate page.
B. Please do not feel overwhelmed by creating a visual. You can think of it as making a simplified “poster” about the topic. You may design the poster in any medium you desire, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, or one of the following programs:
Canva

is really easy to use and convenient because it has tons of free shapes and designs for you to use.
Infogram
Links to an external site.
is a fabulous tool if you want to include a chart or graph in your infographic.
ly

has some great pre-designed Infographic options to work with.
C. Submit your presentation along with a 200-500 word write-up explaining what you learned about the topic from your research and in creating the presentation.
D. (Your summary worth 10 points) Review 2 of your fellow students’ presentations. Write a short (150 to 200-word summary) of your co-students’ presentations.

The last page of your paper will be your apa-formatted reference page.

In this assignment, you will have the opportunity to think about how your senses contribute to everyday activities like eating. Choose a meal that you will, preferably, eat at home. Prepare your meal, set it in front of you while sitting, and then place a blindfold over your eyes. Remain blindfolded throughout the meal (from soup/salad through dessert). After the dinner is over, write about your experience by answering the following questions:
1 Please rank the senses in terms of how much you relied on each, then tell how you used each sense. (Feel free to answer this as a narrative rather than recreating this chart.)
Sense
Rank (1-5)
1 = relied on most
5 = relied on least
How you used the sense
Hearing
Kinesthetic/Vestibular
Smell
Taste
Touch
2 How enjoyable was dining in the dark compared to dining in the light?
3 What, if anything, did you do differently when dining in the dark than you would normally do when dining in the light?
4 What sensory aspects of the experience did you like most?
5 What sensory aspects of the experience did you like least?
6 Would you dine in the dark again? Why, or why not?
7 What did you learn about in the sensation and perception readings in this unit that help you to understand this experience on a deeper level?
Be sure to cite from the readings, using APA-formatted, in-text citations. The last page of your paper will be your APA-formatted reference page. The assignment needs to be at least two pages long, not including the reference page.

Session 7 discussion: meta-analysis and program development in counseling

Session 7 Discussion: Meta-Analysis and Program Development in Counseling
No unread replies.
For this discussion, you are expected to make 4 posts – 2 posts of about 1 paragraph each, and (at least) 2 response posts to a peer.
For your first post to this discussion, you do not have to do any reading, but you are expected to make your first post by Thursday at 1155pm).
This week’s discussion starts with the observation that this course has addressed a number of issues related to research and evaluation in counseling – for example, quantitative vs. qualitative approaches, ROM, program evaluation. Have you found any of these issues to be of particular interest? Of particular concern? Explain your answer. Given that these issues permeate counseling research and evaluation, what have you learned or how have your perceptions changed as a result of this course? Share your answer to any or all of these questions/issues in a 4-6 sentence paragraph with your peers. Keep in mind that you will not be able to view posts until you post your own paragraph.
For your second post to this discussion (due Sunday at 1155pm), you will have read some (or all) of the material for this week. Respond to the readings in a paragraph; you do not have to respond to everything. Rather pick material of interest and respond to that material. Some prompts/questions are provided below.
Now that you have read Chapter 9 Synthesizing Research Results Using Meta-Analysis and completed Balkin & Kleist (2016). Counseling Research: A Practitioner-Scholar Approach, do you have any observations or reactions to this text? What themes or ideas have stood out for you as significant? How has what you have read influenced your understanding of counseling research? Based on the text, how do you see either quantitative or qualitative research playing a role in your own counseling practice? Which approach to research do you find to be more amenable to your own personal perspectives?
You will have read Calley, N. G. (2009). Comprehensive program development in mental health counseling: Design, implementation, and evaluation. This article covers the basics of actually designing a program (e.g., a program for working with meth addicts), how to implement such a program, and, as you might expect, how to evaluate whether the program is working (or not). This article provides a very useful framework for working in program development and can serve as a useful tool for the future. Since this is your final article on research and evaluation and your final chapter, how has this newest material affected your understanding of and approaches to research and program evaluation? Given your work on applying ROM to evaluation of your own practices as well as results from group practice, how does this application of ROM to these situations alter your understanding of program evaluation? How does the use of ROM and your exposure to quantitative and qualitative research alter your perceptions of research and counseling?
Alternately, take a moment to reflect with your colleagues. What stands out for you from your experience of the course? Do you feel comfortable applying ROM in your own counseling practice? Do you feel comfortable with using, for example, Excel to track your own performance and your clients’ experiences? At this point what might you say to your counseling colleagues about ROM? About research?
Don’t forget to respond to 2 of your peers.
